Resources for parents and caregivers LGBTQ+ youth in West Michigan.
Parenting can be a rewarding, yet challenging journey for those who venture on it, especially for those raising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) children. This resource guide was created to provide support and assistance for parents in finding and accessing appropriate resources that may be beneficial to them in raising a LGBTQ+ child in West Michigan.
The contents of this resource guide were informed by parents and caretakers of LGBTQ+ children who reside in the West Michigan area. They shared which aspects of raising a LGBTQ+ child and parenting they would like more information on and what resources they believe have been useful to them in their parenting journey. This was a collaborative undertaking that was accomplished thanks to the parents, service providers, and community members that aided in the creation of a comprehensive child.
Additionally, names and/or organizations with one asterisk (*) or two asterisks (**) after their name denotes that they were vendors and/or sponsors of Grand Rapids Pride Festival 2019* or Holland Pride Festival 2019**. This was done intentionally to highlight and promote those who are actively supporting and empowering the LGBTQ+ community in West Michigan.
