In preparation for Transgender Visibility Week in March, we are launching a February Binder Drive!

Our reserves are running low, so in order to continue providing free binders to transmasculine and non-binary community members, we have set a hopeful restock goal of 150 binders in all sizes, all brands, all skin tones, and all binder shapes!

For the safety of gender-expansive folks who will be utilizing these binders, we ask that any gently-used binders be clean and free of significant signs of wear (such as tearing or apparent stains) and bodily fluids (such as sweat or blood). If you are hoping to donate, but are unsure if your binder can be safely passed on, feel free to contact us at health@grpride.org and we will be happy to double-check!

We have vitamins available for pick-up by 2-SLGBTQ+ community members. Vitamins are zinc & vitamin c combo chewable gummies in a strawberry/citrus flavor and intended for adult use. They come in packs of two bottles, where each bottle is a one-month supply (the dose is three gummies per day.)

Zinc & vitamin C are immune system boosters, so community members who are at high risk for Covid & other illnesses due to being immunocompromised, experiencing food or housing insecurity, pregnancy or postpartum status, in substance use recovery, or other reasons, or who otherwise are unable to afford/access vitamins should absolutely know you are a priority to receive these vitamins from us.

No judgment, no questions asked - please pop by the office and let us know you need some vitamins. It's that simple. If you have other needs, please feel free to sit down with our staff for a confidential conversation where we can connect you to other resources as well. If you'd like to make an appointment for a more extended consultation, just call or email so we can connect you with the best person and set aside time for you.

Hi, I'm one of the Health Equity Program Healthcare Coordinators, @aaminahshakur (they/them), here to tell you about this lovely product I recently purchased for myself and my bestie @mexexx (they/them), who is also on the GRPC Pride Fest Committee. I recently purchased matching condom-carrying cases for us from @jemsforall.

The cases are silicone, 3x3 inches square, & 1 inch wide, with a zipper closure and a handy little strap. If I was still clubbing, I could fit a few condoms, my house key, my ID, & my debit card in there & carry it along without needing a purse or anything! But they are also small enough that I can stash mine discreetly in my bag right next to the kit of Narcan & fentanyl test strips, & always be prepared for anything.

This method of carrying is also a great way to protect your condoms from wear & tear or the elements, as we know that carrying condoms over time can result in damage to the packaging & the condom itself, which can impact its effectiveness.

The only "downside" to this case is the size isn't sufficient to fit internal condoms or dental dams due to the way they are packaged. Jems manufactures & sells only latex condoms, so they have created a couple of different clever & cute ways to carry their product. One company can't be everything for everyone, & Jems has found its niche. As someone who needs non-latex & other products, I can't rely on them for all of my needs, but I still appreciate this item!

This case comes in two color choices, mint (shown here) and orchid. There is also a round-shaped mint-colored silicone case and a small square tin carrying case.

We have been busy putting together the take-away bags for folks who come to our Gentle Hibernation event Thursday night. The bags are full of all sorts of goodies to help folks engage in self-care, relaxing activities, and more.

The event Thursday is 5:30 - 7:30 pm, & which means you can come in any time during those hours. We will have local queer therapist Victoria Fisher, LMSW, to talk about coping strategies for winter blues & blahs. Queer chiropractor Frank Martinez will be on hand to offer posture & range of motion screenings while sharing also help with gentle stretches & the benefits of chiropractic care, particularly in winter.

We are located at 343 Atlas SE, and parking is on the street & available nearby lots. We like to try to reserve the tiny GRPC lot for disabled guests if possible. A reminder that masks are required in our building, and we offer them at the entrance if you need them.

Join us at Grand Rapids Pride Center on Thursday, January 26, 5:30-7:30 pm for our first Health Equity in Action event of 2023! This month's theme is Gentle Hibernation, where we take a cue from Nature and ask how we can be gentle with ourselves during these often dreary & cold times.

We will have Frank Martinez from Novo Chiropractic to provide posture & range of motion screenings and talk about the benefits of chiropractic care & stretching during winter months. And Victoria Fisher, LMSW, will be there to talk about Seasonal Affective Disorder, winter blahs, and coping strategies to get through both.

Food will be provided, and attendees will also receive a take-home care package full of goodies to promote self-care & rest.

Beginning Saturday, February 4th, Grand Rapids Pride Center will offer a new Children's Support Group for ages 8-12. The group is for 2-SLGBTQ+ youth, no allies, please, & meets 10:30-11:30 am.

Our group offers a safe place to meet & forge bonds with those who are, like them, navigating an often lonely journey, but we also want members to find joy in their self-expression. Group members will participate in leader-led discussions. Children will also participate in a wide variety of recreational & team-building activities that help them build self-confidence, social skills, & leadership abilities in a warm & nurturing environment.

We are taking a break for rest and rejuvenation as a staff.

Although the center is closed, the Young Adult and Youth groups are still meeting on their normal days in person, and OYG will be meeting virtually during the week of the 18th. ALL groups are canceled during the week of the 25th.
