On June 28th 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City. This event sparked a movement in the LGBTQ+ community that was largely led by queer identified people of color. This movement pushed for equal rights of the LGBTQ+ community, and on this day we remember and praise the work done by our queer siblings that advocated for change. Today, we recognize the work that has come before us to get us where we are today, but realize that we still have a long way to go in advocating for equity.
