Grand Rapids Pride Center's all-inclusive crafting group presents Our Flag Means CloseKnit! ⁠— a family-friendly flag-crafting workshop for LGBTQ+ and ally community members. Come create a pride flag, a pirate flag, or your own unique design! 🏴‍☠️🏳️‍🌈 Arrive by 6:30 for an introduction to flag design by our special guest speaker. Masks are required in the building.

Join the Human Rights Campaign and Grand Rapids Pride Center for a Town Hall with State Senator Winnie Brinks!

Sen. Brinks is the first woman to represent Grand Rapids in the Michigan Senate since Eva McCall Hamilton was elected in 1920.

Before serving in the State Senate, Sen. Brinks represented parts of Grand Rapids in Michigan's 76th State House District for two terms.

At the Town Hall, Sen. Brinks will discuss her current work in the Michigan Senate followed by an opportunity for Q&A. See you there!

Are you super excited for the Center to open back up!? Have you been wondering when our support groups will be back in person?

Well we are asking for volunteers to help us get that process started!

Come hang out with us on Sunday and help move furniture, clean office spaces, rake all the old leaves from last year away, and anything else we may need to get the building ready to open!

Simply come as you are and we will assign you a task that you are able to do. (If you have any rakes feel free to bring your own if you want to help with leaves.)

Kent County Health Department is bringing their comprehensive testing to three locations this month, including the Grand Rapids Pride Center, to offer FREE, confidential, walk-in full panel STD/STI and HIV screenings. Today's event is happening NOW at Kent County Health Department's Sheldon Clinic on Franklin Street!

For Trans Week of Visibility, we are collaborating with @grtransfoundation to host a virtual Trans Art Showcase, highlighting Trans artists in West Michigan! Please follow the virtual "gallery" space on Instagram @transing_art. We'll post new daily art from March 28 - April ‍3

CALL FOR TRANS ARTISTS: Are you a Trans artist living in West Michigan? Would you like your art highlighted in our show? We can credit you or keep your work anonymous.

Any interested artists should email the following things to <executivedirector@grtransfoundation.org>:
- Name and pronouns.
- How you'd like your name displayed (first name, full name, alias, or anonymous).
- Your Instagram handle, if you'd like to be directly tagged. (e.g. @trans_artist)
- Up to 3 pieces of original artwork
- OPTIONAL: A short bio / artist statement

We were greeted with a surprise message yesterday morning, and we want to say we respect your opinion, and we also agree wholeheartedly with "queer liberation, not assimilation!"

This message came at the right time as we have been planning to hold community listening sessions this year. Our goal is to gather feedback, concerns, and your visions for the future of the center. We want to hear from ALL of you, especially those in our community who we recognize have been erased, neglected, and/or ignored by the Grand Rapids Pride Center's work in the past and may still feel they are not welcome now despite efforts we think we have made to address that so far. We are well aware of the painful and harmful history of GRPC and are committing to changing it in the present and future, but it is ongoing work to do so. These listening sessions are just one strategy of many we have been and will continue to employ to improve our services and to incorporate what you’d like to see from the center in the next few years. And yes, there will be incentives for your participation in the listening sessions!

We exist to build solidarity with the community around us and we hope to continue this venture with your help.

If you'd like to have a conversation about ways we can improve our existing services, gaps in services or things we are not providing that you think we should be, or other areas of concern you have, please reach out to Jazz, our Executive Director at jazz.mckinney@grpride.org.
